Kyle Alden Lowrey Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Pensacola State College

While in high school, Kyle was a dual enrollment student at Pensacola State College (then called Pensacola Junior College) and graduated Cum Laude with an AA degree in Pre-Engineering in 2010. Although he went on to the University of Arkansas, he reflected that his days at PJC were some of his happiest as a student. It was Kyle’s plan to one day give back to the school that made him feel so alive and welcome. Therefore, in his honor, his family has started an endowed scholarship in his name that will continue in perpetuity.

Candidates for the $500 scholarship must be full-time students seeking an associate’s degree, have at least a 3.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and write an essay answering the following questions: "What historical figure, living or dead, do you draw inspiration from and why? How do you plan to pass along this inspiration to the world around you?" The person they write about can be an artist, musician, writer, poet, scientist, or politician. The only requirement is they should be someone generally known throughout the nation and/or world.

Scholarships are awarded in the fall and spring terms of each academic year. Initially, PSC selected the recipients, but starting in Spring of 2022, Kyle’s parents and brother will select the awardee.
